Foucault’s governmentality perspective is set out in the lectures he gave at the Collège de France in the Spring terms of 1977–1978 and 1978–1979 (Dean2010). These lectures were most comprehensively published in French in 2004 (Elden2007) to coincide with the twentieth anniversary of Foucault’s death.
